2000 MILES in 2008

Last week October 30th, I reached my goal of 2000 miles riding, acutally I ended at 2008 miles that day. I hit the 2000 mile mark just as I was passing Bride a Vail Falls, which is my favorite view to stop and look at while riding the trail up to South Fork Canyon. So I can say I did 2008 miles in the year 2008 on a bike outside. I have not had to ride alone too much anymore. I teamed up with one of the Velo club members Jayon Conley. We both have been riding together since July sometime. We did the Alpine Loop together for our first ride together. Since then we have done South Fork Canyon several times, Squaw Peak and up to Aspine Grove one other time. This year I did two 100 mile rides and about 2 dozen 50 mile rides. All others were anywhere from 6 miles to 32. Now that the snow is flying I might continue my miles on my trainer in the house.

Fall in the Canyons

Last Saturday I road with the Velo club up Hobble Creek Canyon. Wow the colors are showing already. In just a couple of weeks it will be in full bloom of fall color. I need just a few more rides to get closer to my goal of miles this year and I would like to do as much of that outside. I am sitting at just over 16 hundred miles today. That sounds like a lot of miles when I put it that way rather than writing 1600. Saturday put me up 57 miles and each week I do about 60 miles just riding to work and back home. I would love to do another 100 mile ride, but will see. Maybe I can't sqeeze it in. With all these miles, my bike is feeling it. I need a new chain, seat, handle bars support and a shorter bike. I found out a month or so ago that my bike it too big for me. Wow If it were any shorter, I would be sitting on the ground it would seem. I just need a new bike, HA, Ha, anyone have about 12oo dollars they just want to give me. Anyway, I like the bike and will probably never get ride of it. Its been a good day

Summer's Over

I love summer and don't want it to end. My goal for miles on my road bike is 2000 and I am curantly at 1400. Will I make it before the first snow falls.
I and Glenda have been cleaning out the craft room and making it into a Craft/workout room. I would like to come up with a new name for the room. Maybe something like recreation room/blue room/ getaway room/lower west room/area room/ hobbie room/ get-down room/my-room/ happy room/ long room/anything room/ hubb room/ now room/ dump room/ enshoy room/. Help me come up with something good.
We have also been cleaning out the storage room and have found ways to make more room in the shelves. I utilized space by putting card board on top of a shlef full of glass jars and put small glass jars on the carboard to fill the space between the next shelf. We might have a small yard sale to sell items we have now use for anymore too. Well I need to get home and see that Zach is going to mow Porters lawn. So long.

Even or Odd

I am having a hard time deciding if I should ride my road bike to work everyday or my mountian bike which is much older. I do know if i don't figure out what is causing my mountain bike flat tires, I wont be riding it much more. I road the mountian bike today to work and i did not like the pressure level in the tires. Stan in the club told me hold off a little on the pressure. So I have by 5 pounds and it just does not ride the same. The chain on both bikes should be replaced according to Stans recomendation. He has a tool the meassures the wear on the chain and my road bike is far beyond needing replace. So does even or odd mean anyting different in the choice made?

Summer Events

I have enjoyed this Summer so much already. I have been cycling much more this year with the club and on my own. I just reached over 1000 miles this year. I have had already 5 flats not on my road bike on my mountian bike. I am almost ready to hang it up. Other than cycling, I have been to a couple movies, backpaking with the scouts and was in the Stadium of Fire opening show as an Olympic cyclist. I can forget our family trip in may to San Diego California. We visited the Zoo, Wild Life Park, Sea World, and the USS MIDWAY. The trip was great.

Today's THUNDER BEAT is: help someone in need and the blessing will pour upon you like rain.
